November Monthly Round-up

The summer break from football seems to take an eternity to roll by, yet when the season finally gets underway it simply races through! We’re about to enter the busy festive period, where the gameweeks come thick and fast, and also a time where previously flying teams can become unstuck – which in turn means our players can too! November was definitely a solid improvement on a generally haphazard October, with many of you needing to recover from a plague of dastardly minus scores and disappointing returns. This was the month to do it with plenty of opportunity to score big!

Straight to the top of the Global League to start off; congratulations to Oliver Norman for reclaiming top spot! It’s tight up there, but Oliver’s score of 1250 puts him in pole position, with Marc Berresford just behind on 1234 and Robert Ramshall in third on 1221. Last month’s table topper, Ally Jessop, had a month to forget as he slipped down the standings and now sits in 6th place on 1189 points. Work to do for Ally if he wants to regain top spot!

As for the highest points earner, it was Phil Wilcox who topped the form table for November, picking up a staggering 464 points! It was a jam-packed month, with our first midweek bonus round (GW 18) to give us six gameweeks in total. This meant that Phil bagged an impressive average of 77 points per week, great effort! There were actually 8 players who secured over 400 points in November and the average weekly score was a healthy 43, while the highest average score of the month reached 55 (unsurprisingly in the ‘free-for-all’ GW 19!), the second highest of the season. The good news doesn’t stop there either; we had an amazing 50 members of Club 100 last month, with 7 players getting there on two separate occasions. That’s a vast upgrade on October, which saw just 29 visits to Club 100 and no player dining there more than once.

However, time for the bad news now – I’ll try to get it done quickly! Well down from October’s woefully substandard 126 minus scores, but nonetheless painful, we had 85 horrible minuses recorded in November, the worst of which was a calamitous -80, with the lowest overall score a sorry -44 from Kathy Wynne, propping up the table alongside 6 other players who all ended the month with less points than they started it. Better luck for December Kathy!

It’s always fascinating to see which teams get selected the most and on which multipliers, but in Liverpool’s case November was the month where they became that sporty kid who always gets picked first in PE. The Reds were the most popular choice on x2, x3 and x4, with many of you quite rightly trusting in their imperious form to get your score started on the multiplier ladder. Rangers have proved to be another reliable choice and they occupy the x5 and x6 spaces, while major rivals and current Scottish Premiership champions Celtic are sat at x7. Manchester City, widely regarded as pure goalscoring machines in this game, are your most popular x8 choice to once demonstrate that many of you see big points coming from Pep Guardiola’s men.

So into the hectic festive period we go. Will December be a month to forget, or will your form skyrocket? We’ll find out soon enough! Good luck and have a cracking month of Ultimate Goals action!
