GW 38 – Ones to Watch
Matt: March has proved to be quite a challenging month thus far, as surprise results and no shortage of non-scoring picks have seen a sharp downturn in the form of many players. Let’s see if we can end the month on a high.
First tip from me this weekend comes from the English Championship. Four consecutive wins (and 11 goals in the process) has resulted in Aston Villa racing from mid table into the top six and on course for a shot at the play offs. They face a Blackburn Rovers side whose away form leaves more than a little to be desired – in fact they have the worst away record in the league in terms of average goals conceded on the road. The Villains have got goals all over the park, with forwards, midfielders and defenders all chipping in recently, and with Rovers missing a couple of key players in this fixture i’d be very surprised to see them keep a clean sheet at Villa Park.
Next up i’m dropping into League Two and i have no qualms about tipping Lincoln City, despite the fact they handed me my only -20 of the season back in September! The Imps are top of the league and well on course to be playing League One football next season, with another vital 3 points well within their grasp in this weekend’s fixture against struggling Macclesfield Town. In fairness to The Silkmen, they’ve found themselves stuck in the bottom two for pretty much the entire season, but whilst Sol Campbell’s side may be lacking in quality, they have plenty of fight in them. The great escape is a real possibility, but i don’t see them going to Sincil Bank and returning home without conceding a couple of goals. Good luck!
