GW 33 – Ones to Watch

Ally: The roller coaster ride that this game presents was in evidence once again in GW32, as Manchester City in particular conspired to either make or break many players’ scorecards and once again shake up the leaderboards!

First up for me this weekend is the resurgent Manchester United side led by interim manger and former player Ole Gunnar Solksjaer. Since his appointment he has taken off the shackles placed on United’s gifted squad by the previous incumbent Jose Mourinho. They have suffered somewhat of an injury crisis of late, losing 3 players to injury in the first 45 minutes alone of last Sunday’s clash with arch rivals Liverpool, and this was the first league game under Solksjaer’s tenure that the Red Devils had failed to score in, though in the circumstances it wasn’t a bad result. The visit of struggling Southampton is unlikely to cause any great loss of sleep, especially as Marcus Rashford appears to have shaken off his injury niggle and Romelu Lukaku seems to have found his scoring boots again.

A word of caution though is that the Saints have kept clean sheets on 3 of their last 4 visits to Old Trafford. I’m not expecting to see another on Saturday, but don’t say I didn’t warn you!

My other tip is a team that has served me well on a few occasions this season, in the shape of League One leaders Luton Town, who welcome relegation threatened Rochdale to Kenilworth Road. The Hatters have been imperious at home all season as they march on towards promotion to the Championship, but slipped up last week when they could only muster a 1-1 home draw with mid table Coventry. However, Saturday’s visit of a struggling ‘Dale side who boast comfortably the division’s worst defensive record in averaging over 2 goals conceded per match should not pose too many problems for the most prolific attack in the league, so there could (and should) be plenty of goals on show here.

Good luck with your selections!
