GW 6 – Review
So another round of the ultimate goals flies by. Due to the international break we saw the addition of the National North and South divisions to the fold, which always spices things up! So, without further ado, let’s get cracking.
The addition of new, and even more unpredictable leagues, generally means it’s a tricky call to get right. The Perfect 7 was a devilishly tough nut to crack at a substantial 171 points. Five goals from Solihull Moors (only 8 selections) on x7 and a magnificent seven from St. Johnstone (72) on x8 would have handed you 91 points right off the bat, with any 4 goal side on x2 through to x6 providing the route to success and that lucrative £7,777 jackpot prize!
Unfortunately, no one came close this week, indeed it was a struggle to even get close to three figures! A lonely trip to Club 100 for Vicky Ward whose table-topping score of 104 points was just enough to see her book a table for one! Most notable in Vicky’s multiplier ladder were St. Johnstone on x4, 4 goal Notts County (17 selections) on x7 and 3 goal Chester (31) on x8, returning a fantastic 80 points between them to help Vicky to the top of the Weekly Global Table with the only ‘green score’ of the week. Meanwhile, second placed Tommy Littler only missed out on a ticket to Club 100 due to Dundee Utd failing to find the net at his x8…..mind you, 95 is a hell of a score with only six scoring teams, nice work!
In fact Dundee Utd had a devastating effect on many of your scores – a huge 63% of you backed The Tangerines to do the business at the weekend, making them the most selected side of the round, particularly on x6 and x7! This prevented many of you from reaching your most profitable x8 multiplier, meaning the average score for the gameweek was a little underwhelming – just 29 points. Notably St. Johnstone were the most popular x8 pick, so we could have had some incredible scores on the doors if Dundee Utd had netted, but alas, this is a game where the finest of margins can have the most dramatic of effects. As for the other most picked sides, Lincoln City (62 picks) were seen as the most likely team to get your score going on x2, but also as a bridge to your higher multipliers at x5. Meanwhile, Livingston (73) and Hearts (69) were most popular at x3 and x4 respectively.
There were a disappointing 18 minus scores and again, it was Dundee Utd who were the source of much of the frustration down at the bottom of the weekly table.
Now how many of you will select teams from GW 7’s early fixtures? League leaders Everton host Liverpool in a hotly anticipated Merseyside derby and at the rate Everton are scoring and Liverpool conceding, this one promises to be a cracker (which is why it’ll probably end goalless!! ) In the Scottish Premiership Celtic and Rangers do battle in the 421st Old Firm fixture, which should produce fireworks as per. The question is, do you dare choose any of these sides? Good luck!
