GW 2 – Review

Wow! What a weekend of football that was! Had chance to catch your breath yet? No? Well I’m here to help guide you through all the standout stats of gameweek 2’s thrilling action, starting with the Perfect 7!

Climbing high at a huge 166 points, the Perfect 7 this week was a whopper! Premier League sides Everton (71 selections) and Tottenham Hotspur (just 10 picks) each secured 5-2 wins, while Blackburn Rovers (51) and Cambridge Utd (2) bagged 5-0 victories to fill x5 through x8 on the multiplier ladder. Throw in any of the 4 goal sides at x2, x3 & x4 and you’d have won yourself a cool £7,777!

You could have gone for Leeds Utd (53 picks), who edged Fulham (2) in a 7 goal thriller, or Leicester City (52) in their 4-2 win over Burnley. (The Premier League really was an absolute goalfest wasn’t it!) AFC Wimbledon and Plymouth Argyle battled for a 4-4 draw in League One, with Salford City running out 4-0 victors at Grimsby Town in League Two.

But even though none of you hit the Perfect 7 it was certainly a week to get plenty of points on the leaderboard, with the goals flying in across all divisions – something which many of you managed as we had a very impressive average score of 55! Well done to the 54% of you who went higher than that, and especially to the 31 players who made it through the doors of Club 100. It was Aaron Fisher who climbed highest of all, grabbing a tremendous 126 points from smart picks of Everton, Blackburn, Leicester and Leeds, who racked up 18 goals between them. Nice work!

It was certainly a weekend which offered up no shortage of opportunities on the goals front, which is why there were only 13 minus scores recorded. But who did you back most to score the goals and propel you up the table?

Arsenal were the most selected Premier League side with 117 picks and took the honours for most backed team on x2, x3, x5 AND x6! Everton were most selected at x4 and there’s no prize for guessing that Celtic were most picked at x7 and x8, as well as the most selected side overall – their 3-2 win over plucky Livingston perhaps even coming as a slight disappointment to those of you who were hoping for massive points from The Hoops.

That was quite a weekend! How many 5 goal teams will we have next week? Can anyone get closer to that perfect 7 jackpot? Get those selections locked in and it could be you! The Premier League early kick-off sees Manchester Utd take a trip to the South coast to face Brighton, with Wycombe Wanderers, desperate to avoid another hammering, hosting Swansea City in the Championship. Good Luck!
