GW 7 – Review
Gameweek 7 proved to be another rollercoaster ride, perfectly showcasing the highs and lows in our Global League!
At the top of the leaderboard, Steve Roome’s superb 112 was the obvious standout individual score – a significant victory over the closest competition. His selections paid off in two ways; with key contributions coming from six of his chosen teams, doubled up with his decision to put his only non-scoring team (East Fife) on x8 – again proving that the order can be every bit as important as the actual selections. The Scottish Cup, despite East Fife’s shock result, turned out to be a major source of points income for Steve, with Peterhead (a high-scoring 6-3 thriller against Lochee United) and Stirling Albion (a whopping 6-0 win over Bo’ness) doing the majority of the damage. With Manchester City catching many players out by only scoring once against bottom of the Premier League Southampton, Steve’s decision to place The Citizens on x2 was an equally shrewd one.
On the other side of the coin, we find a whole host of players who had a highly frustrating and/or unlucky outcome, possibly none more so than Mike McNab. Despite a x7/x8 12 goal combo that could have yielded an enormous score, he ended the week with just 14 points. One key selection cost him dearly – yep, it was East Fife again in that unforeseen 1-0 home loss to Banks O’ Dee of the Highland League. Such close calls highlight the exciting unpredictability of The Ultimate Goals, where a single result can make or break your week – the fact we saw a double figure number of people go backwards with a minus score is testament to that!
If you missed out on the action last weekend, don’t worry – Gameweek 8 is now upon us! It’s a fresh chance to rack up some big points and who knows, maybe you’ll be this week’s top scorer. Make sure to lock in your selections before Saturday’s 2:55 pm deadline.
Good luck to you all. ⚽⚽⚽
