GW 3 – Review
Gameweek 3 of The Ultimate Goals saw a nail-biting contest for top spot unfold! After a hard-fought battle that went the distance into Sunday afternoon, it was Ady Bell who eventually ended the round at the top of the leaderboard – his impressive tally of 116 points just about enough to see him home.
Hot on Ady’s heels were a large group of players all hoping to snatch the honour away from him; Andy Jones with 114 points and Graham Taylor on 113 were closest and rounded out the top three nicely.
In total, a very healthy 15 players reached three figures, with a few people making it into ‘Club 100’ for the first time in their TUG careers. Well done to everybody who made it, in what was definitely the most profitable rounds of the three we’ve had in this fledgling season.
Taking a closer look at the tactical side in GW 3, it’s pretty clear that the common denominator for the high scorers was an Arsenal (4 goals) and Celtic (6!) combination, with Ady for example picking those teams on x7 and x8 respectively. When you’re pulling 76 points from your last two picks, you’d be very disappointed not to score big! Other popular selections ranged from Premier League Liverpool, right down to National League Barnet – both of whom found the net twice. Sides such as Blackpool, Livingston and Elgin City were also dotted around in plenty of players’ final seven, proving that there’s no shortage of places to go hunting for your points in any given week.
GW 4 is now ready and awaiting your selections, so start plotting and submitting in your own time – remember you can edit your teams as many times as you like right up until the deadline. Good luck, let’s see if this round can match up to last weekend’s goal bonanza! ⚽⚽⚽
