GW 2 – Review

Gameweek 2 of The Ultimate Goals saw the competition explode into life, with the top 19 scorers all ending the weekend in Club 100.

It was Charlie Chamberlain who took the leaderboard honours, his total of 119 points enough to see off rivals Steve Roome (118), Mike Kokins (117) and David Lee (117) by the barest of margins. Paul Roome and Duncan Elliott rounded out the heavy scoring top five, with 114 and 113 points respectively.

The key to Charlie’s success can very much be attributed to the order of his selections; Celtic the standout performers – bagging a massive 5-2 win over Falkirk – which earned him a whopping 40 points alone. In the same competition (Scottish League Cup), Aberdeen also delivered in style, thrashing Spartans 4-0, meaning his combined x7 and x8 choices raked in a mighty 68 points! Of course you have to make sure you actually get down to these multipliers first, but solid picks including Liverpool and Aston Villa never really looked like causing any major concerns. Rangers, Burnley and Wycombe Wanderers completed the list nicely.

With an average score of 68 points across the board, way higher than the lowly 7 points averaged in gameweek 1, it’s clear to see the noticeable improvement in overall form already – how long can this be maintained is the question, because those of you who know the game well will be fully aware of how much it likes to bite back, especially after a high-scoring week like we’ve just witnessed. Don’t say you weren’t warned!

Good luck, gameweek 3 is open and ready for business.
