GW 1 – Review

What a tough opening round to navigate that was! Maybe we can attribute it to a distinct lack of practice, or should that be TUG match fitness, after the game’s prolonged absence!

Well done to week 1 top scorer Ian Mitchell, who notched a very creditable total of 80 points and, to emphasise just how tricky the round was, managed to go ‘through the card’ in a gameweek where only seven players in total achieved that feat. Who would have thought picking seven teams to score a goal or three could be so difficult – this game will never stop biting back!

It’s not too difficult to pinpoint the chief culprits, as they both reside in the English Premier League; Brighton and Liverpool were both heavily backed against Ipswich and Nottingham Forest respectively, but neither could find the back of the net, much to the disgust of the 16 players who had one of them on x2. Worse still, five of that bunch actually doubled up on that pair, meaning that their season got off to a shockingly poor start, with -40s in play already. It’s a cruel game at times!

Gameweek 2 is already open for business, so you know the drill. Remember you can edit your selections as many times as you like, up until the deadline. Good luck, I suspect plenty of you will be looking to right a few wrongs!
